Once sold exclusively at Supreme, the Vans x Bad Brains Sk8-Hi was one of three styles that were released in a limited run in 2009. The band worked alongside the Vans design team to showcase their iconic lightning bolt logo from their first self-titled,  full-length 1982 album on the sidewall and waffle outsole of the Sk8-Hi.

SXSW Festival is right around the corner and we’re digging into the Vault for four exclusive re-issues. During the festival we will release limited numbers of some of our most popular band shoes from the past including Circle Jerks, Motörhead II, Bad Brains and Rise Against. Each re-issue has a total of 150 pairs. The first 50 will be sold exclusively at the pop-up shop inside the Vans Village at SXSW while an additional 100 pairs will be available on our US online shop the following day. The limited re-release of these iconic band shoes is only the second time we’ve allowed the reproduction of archived band collaborations. The first came from Vans’ Vulcanized Vinyl pop-up boutique that opened during the 2012 SXSW Music Festival. The release schedule is above, good luck!

Groovy. There’s some crazy psychedelic Sahara Desert thing going on in this Bad Brains video for “Ragga Dub,” featuring Angelo Moore of Fishbone. The collab was filmed at the House of Vans in Brooklyn amidst some rad pro skaters. And if that combo of awesomeness just isn’t enough for you, there’s also a camel thrown in to set the mood.

The track is available exclusively on Dub Rockers Volume 1, now available on iTunes.

"VP Records and Vans gear up for DubRockers Volume 1, a new compilation series that combines Jamaica’s top artists with popular U.S. and American-based reggae acts. The 10-track collection, released today on VP Records’ newly founded imprint Dub Rockers, will feature collaborations between Slightly Stoopid, Inner Circle and Capleton, Bad Brains and Angelo Moore of Fishbone, SOJA and Gentleman, Rebelution and I-Wayne, John Brown’s Body and Peetah Morgan plus much more.”
We will also release a limited edition Vans Era 46 black sneaker for giveaways and John Cardiel will contribute a Dub Rockers Volume 1 mixtape and participate in various events around the album release. Stay tuned for more info & grab the album now on iTunes.

No matter what generation you’re from, if sounds of The Ramones, The Cramps, The Misfits, Beastie Boys, or Bad Brains (to name a few) have ever graced your speakers, then you’re most likely familiar with the name CBGB. In 2006, the doors of the legendary punk club and birthplace of the American punk movement officially closed, and for 6 years, the name continued only on re-printed Ramones posters and the tshirts of young punks, becoming little more than a reminder of an awesome scene that was known by many but experienced by few.

Well, there’s no excuses now.  This year, the scene will be resurrected in the first annual CBGB Festival. The music portion is set for July 5-6th with over 300 acts, old and new, hitting venues all across New York City. A few acts on the lineup have been officially announced, including a free show on July 7th with Guided By Voices and Cloud Nothings.

In the calming words of The Ramones, hey, ho … let’s go.

Check out more info on the official CBGB site.

Braaaaaaains. Bad Brains. Just a tad bit of reggae-infused punk rock to get you up and moving this Monday. For any folks off in the Ohio region, the guys will be heading your way in just a few weeks for the Nelsonville Music Festival on Friday 5/18. Or, hey, you can always roadtrip it to Tennessee for Bonnaroo in June. Your choice.

Darryl Jenifer's solo debut album, In Search of Black Judas, has been out and about on the market for a little while. We’re not sure if he ever found that Black Judas, but you can snag your own copy of the record right here.

There’s a film floating around somewhere on the horizon about the history of Bad Brains. The punk-reggae outfit have been together for 30 years now, so you know there’s some stories to be told. Bad Brains: Bands in DC will premiere at SXSW next month, but you can check out the trailer right now. Radical.
