Meet the Superfans at the Barriers at Governors Ball
Fandom in the music world has always been really fascinating to me. My friends and I often say that we are fans of fans: we enjoy observing maniacal devotees who are driven to hysteria thanks to their favorite musicians. Once a friend and I went to a Justin Bieber concert—less for his suave dance moves and more to witness the hoards of screaming and crying preteen girls and their mothers. Passionate fandom is a part of modern culture, and we wanted to experience it in all its perspirational glory en masse and firsthand.

Noisey did a great job of making the superfans the focal point of NYC’s Governor’s Ball this year. We’ve all been fans of something, especially in the music world. If you’re a self-proclaimed “superfan,” reblog with the band or artist you’d do anything to meet!

Tyler the Creator // House of Vans

Since 2009, Tyler the Creator has been stirring up controversy, but all the talk has only built up more of a fanbase and curiousity about his music. His tracks almost hypnotize listeners as his raps leave no subject to the imagination. Tyler and crew stopped by House of Vans and the Vans lounge this week at SXSW.

Checking in with Brian & Nick from the campgrounds again, and it looks like Saturday was a killer day for those two. Looks like they were able to trade shoes for some coffee, and premium viewing spots for Earl Sweatshirt, The Wombats, Violent Femmes, and The XX. Brian said one of his favorite trades was for a fake mustache haha. Check out their shots from Friday here & here-amanda

Here’s another round of photos via JLay’s iPhone from Day 1. Looks like he checked in with the Odd Future crew at Earl Sweatshirt’s set & made it to Modest Mouse. More coming from Day 2 soon. Plus you can follow him on Instagram at @laytonjr
