Social D on the run

Social Distortion are back at it, booking show after show (and tour after tour) of incredible punk rock lineups. Just next month they’ll be playing KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas Night 1 (Dec 10th), 91X WreX The Halls Night 2 (Dec 11th), and Goldenvoice’s 30th anniversary show Night 1 (December 16th).

After all that December madness settles down, the band are heading out on a North American tour with support from Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls and Sharks. Trust us, this is a lineup you don’t want to miss.

Free Bad Religion Tribute Album

All great bands will have a tribute album. All the others just probably aren’t as good at this one.

In honor of Bad Religion’s 30th year, Germs of Perfection: A Tribute to Bad Religion has been complied for your enjoyment. I remember the list of artists who were in the mix for this project when it was coming together this past summer and I can say that I’m very impressed by the final cut.

Did I mention that this is a totally free album? Download it now! Right now! For you skeptics, this is a tested, trusted download link so lap it up.

Check out the tracklist below:

01. Switchfoot – Sorrow
02. Guttermouth – Pity
03. Cheap Girls – Kerosene
04. The Weakerthans – Sanity
05. William Elliott Whitmore – Don’t Pray on Me
06. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – Against the Grain
07. Riverboat Gamblers – Heaven Is Falling
08. New Politics – Generator
09. Cobra Skulls ft. Fat Mike – Give You Nothing

Let’s Go! Music Fest NW - Portland

I will be trucking it on up to Portland tomorrow for MFNW 2010. The plan for the weekend is to go see dozens of bands and drink gallons of Stumptown. The set up is a little like CMJ and a little like SXSW in that you walk from venue to venue. It’s not all in one spot. There are official shows and non-official ones happening throughout the city. About 100 of the best bands currently touring will be there. Here are a few friends that will be there.

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Frank Turner 11pm-11.45pm at Berbati’s Pan SW 3rd and SW Ankeny - This guy kills it. Everyone in the UK knows about him. Take a hint. He’s heading out on a tour back home shortly & will be on the road with Social Distortion for a full US tour this fall, too. Watch his newest video, The Road, on youtube & follow Frank Turner on Twitter.
