The National headlined Boston Calling on Sunday.  Leaving the festival in between sets and coming back just before the final performance, I realized that the crowd doubled in size just for them.  It was pretty impossible to reach the photo pit at that point….. oops.  At least their set was great, and the entire crowd was totally psyched. -alyson

Perhaps our favorite set of the weekend… Big words I know, but Of Monsters & Men totally delivered. I shot them at a small backyard party during SXSW 2012 & it’s pretty rad to see how things have taken off for these guys. Also, I’m a sucker for an accordian. What can I say? haha. -amanda

Not having a photo pit on the second stage at Boston Calling festival this weekend is either the best thing or the worst thing & I’m still not really sure, haha. It allowed the fans to be really close to their favorite bands but it did not allow anyone to get very good photos. Maybe next time I’ll just have to dance my way to the barricade and stake out my spot for the day. Here’s a few from Ra Ra Riot on Day 2. Always a pleasure to see these guys play. -amanda

Another photo update from Vans Surfer Leila Hurst in Boston with the Vans Girls crew. Second day of Boston Calling music fest & a little city exploration:

"Boston, day number 3! So so so many different, yet amazing things going on here! The weather was so much better today. We left the festival for a bit to get lunch & the girls and I got to meet up with friends from Boston who took us around the cute little area we are staying in. There were so many amazing street performers! I don’t see that on Kauai that’s for sure! We also got to see the ocean, which I want nothing to do with because it did not look inviting. Too cold! Right before dark we headed back over to watch Of Monsters and Men, which I loved! I think they won best performance in my eyes. Goodnight Boston! I have a busy day at the aquarium tomorrow! So excited!” -Leila

The Shins were pretty fantastic last night here in Boston, but when are they not? My favorite part was after the third song I was exiting the photo pit and saw this little girl in all her rain gear just totally going for it. She looked about ten or eleven but had better moves than anybody else in the audience. Thanks to these guys for a great show! -amanda

Boston Calling Day 1 is a wrap & here’s a look at some of the people we met all day. Hoping for less rain & considering expanding our winter wardrobes for Day 2 haha. It is almost June right? You guys still rocked it all day with smiles on your faces. -amanda

Boston Calling Day 1 was kicked off by some extremely chilly wind and 45 degree rain but that didn’t stop the crowd from turning out early to see the first band in the lineup, Boston’s own Bad Rabbits. We know Bad Rabbits from the Vans Warped Tour a few days ago & it was so rad to see them in this setting. Their set was great and really got us ready for the rest of the day. -amanda
