Let’s take a Coachella breather and bask in the awesomeness that is Record Store Day. Every year, right around the third weekend in April, a ton of musicians and independent record stores partner up to launch limited edition releases for one day of vinyl-buying madness. Ditch your iPod for an afternoon to thumb through the new releases at your local record shop and pick up something new. Some stores are hosting instore performances and signings, so keep an eye out to see what’s happening in your area.
Mastodon is on the bill for two split 7”s this RSD - one with Feist (photo above) and one with The Flaming Lips. We’re just going to go out on a limb and say that both are absolutely necessary to your record collection—And if you don’t have a record collection? It’s a perfect excuse to start one. Our buddies in Mastodon and The Dillinger Escape Plan killed it with a sold out show at Brixton Academy in London last night. Seriously. Our ear drums were splattered all over the place by the end of the night (not that we’re complaining one bit).
