Tumbledown are just finishing up their first mini west coast tour of the year. Last night, they hit up the OC Sports Grill in Anaheim, CA and treated the audience to a good ol’ dose of alt-country (along with a couple of MxPx tracks for good measure). Always a good time. Check out some photos below!
And if ya missed them this time around, the guys will be back next month. Catch those dates at tumbledownhq.com!
MxPx are releasing their first music documentary, Both Ends Burning, this December. The DVD catches the band at a time when they are forced to make heavy life decisions, between playing the music they love to play and buckling down to support themselves with “real jobs.”
The documentary will be available in digital format on December 1st and physical DVD on December 8th. Check out a trailer below.
It’s been a year of nonstop touring for MxPx/Tumbledown’s Mike Herrera. He’s keeping it up with yet another tour starting this week. Reforming the MxPx All-Stars with a new lineup (now featuring Jose Garzon and Harley Trotland), he’ll be bringing the band down to South America for two weeks worth of shows. And if that wasn’t enough, his alt-country project, Tumbledown, will be opening.
Check the dates below.
Last night was our first night in Austin for SXSW. Keeping in mind that I’ve never been before, I’m sticking close to everyone from Vans- espeically Kurt since we’re the music duo. Team Soto-Mink ftw!
We pick up all of our badges and caught up with our friends from Epitaph which is always a good time. Since the music section of SX didn’t start until the following day, I was surprised that we were already to some shows!
Our first was Motorhead. How’s that for an opening night? The place was packed and the show kicked ass. Of course.
Afterward, Kurt and I spent the rest of the night at Red 7. Our friends True Widow were on the stage when we got there. Mike Herrera’s newest project Tumbledown played not too long after. Holy. Crap. So good! Oliver Peck even jumped on stage to sing a little.
But after Tumbledown was when it got really crazy. Mike Herrera of MXPX, Zach Blair of Rise Against, Luke Abbey from Gorilla Biscuits, members from Riverboat Gamblers and Scott Renyolds of All banded together to play an entire Descendants cover set. Yes, you read that correctly. The crowd was gnarly! I got thrashed around a bit while taking some footage for you guys, but it’s all in the name of reporting, music and freaking punk rock. Enjoy!
MXPX is good at promises! Over the years, the punk trio have released Christmas songs available to the fan club. They said there may in fact be a full length album of all these holiday jams- and it’s out now!
The album is ready for a digital download at iTunes OR! You can check out all the multitude of physical options. There’s a RED CD which is out today. The GREEN CD is limited to 1,000 copies and can be pre-ordered. Lastly there’s a sweet 4 track 7” vinyl up for grabs- of which only 500 were made.
Want to preview a track? They have one up on MySpace!
You can grab all your copies here and enjoy the your Christmas cheer in true MXPX fashion!
MxPx will post up their new song “End” on the band’s MySpace page this Friday, Nov 13th at 9 am PST. The EP “Left Coast Punk” will be released the following week on Nov 17th. The EP features 6 songs and will be released on the band’s label Rock City Recording Company. It will be sold digitally, but there is a limited edition CD version that will have 4 extra tracks- 3 instrumental tracks and “On a String,” a previously unreleased demo track. There are only gonna be 500 of these babies which also includes an autographed poster. You can only get it on the band’s website.
If that’s not enough to make your little pop-punk heart happy, then you can also look forward to their Christmas album! Every year, they record a Christmas tune for the fan club, but this year looks like we all may be getting a little more…
