We know that ETID have been working on new material since their 2009 album New Junk Aesthetic. Well, it seems the guys have released what could be the first preview of what we can look forward to. Check out this upside down video of drummer Legs ripping music a new one.
We are very, very excited to announce we just have released our latest band shoe for none other than The Devil Wears Prada! We’re stoked to have these heavy hitters as part of our elite band collection- partially because they make a sick shoe. Check out the design right here in the Music Blog and get your hands on a pair before these go flying off the shelves. You know you’ll be the coolest kid at Warped this summer rocking these. And hey- maybe you can even get the band to sign them this summer, yeah?!
To date they have released three full-length albums and last year’s Zombie EP. In 2009 they were voted Band of the Year by readers of Alternative Press magazine, appearing on the issue’s cover. They have toured two summers on the Vans Warped Tour and return to the Main Stage in 2011. The collaboration is based on the colors of their 2009 album, With Roots Above and Branches Below.

But first things first, Man Man have just announced their latest album Life Fantastic, out May 10! Before we get to the interview, Honus Honus gives you an idea of what to expect on the new release:
Contextually, this is an album fueled by the end of relationships, the death of good friends, an absence of structure, drifting from place to place without a real home. It’s funny because in the past I was able to take bad situations and turn them into something creative but this time around I just couldn’t at all. I felt nothing, which was worse than being miserable and depressed. Sometimes I guess you have to stumble around in a fog for awhile until you find a way out, rediscover your heart, take comfort in knowing that the only thing you really have control over is how you choose to roll with the punches. In many ways, this is an album about carrying on.

We’re also stoked that Man Man are heading back out on tour! We will be definitely be checking them out at their SXSW show. I say we go forward with the interview and you can check out their upcoming shows below that. Sound like a plan?

How excited are you to be heading back to SXSW?
Believe it or not I’m pretty psyched. I just hope my pipes hold up. Doing double duty this festival with Man Man and Mister Heavenly since I’m in an unusual situation of having two albums dropping this year. Fortunately it’s only one Man Man show so I think my body will be able to handle the blitzing that Mister Heavenly is undertaking. It’s been years and years since I’ve signed up to play so many shows. If I had to do more than one Man Man shows I’d be a dead man for sure. Throw me in a ditch and cover me with Tecate empties. I have a feeling I’ll be eating all of these words.
Are there any bands you can’t wait to check out this year while you’re down there?
Hopefully if I can: Dirty Beaches, Fergus & Geronimo, Das Racist, Toro Y Moi, Twin Shadow, Wild Flag, Daniel Hart, Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers, Living Days to name a few. I’m sure I’ve left off a dozen more. When the dust settles I usually end up catching only a couple bands and not feeling guilty about missing the others. It’s a shitshow. You do what you can do.
Can you tell us a little about your new album? Any surprises or crazy things to expect?
Worked really long and hard on the new Man Man and I’m exceptionally proud of it. Anxious to see how it’s received. Same goes with Mister Heavenly. The two couldn’t be any different from each other however.
What are you looking forward to the most on your upcoming tour?
Touring in general. It’s been awhile since Man Man did a long stretch on the road and we have a whole year ahead of us. It’s the only time my brain makes sense anymore really. When it’s distracted and weary so I can’t overthink during the downtime. That can’t be healthy though. I am unhealthly.

I kinda get stuck on a song a listen to it on massive repeat.

What’s the last album you listened to start to finish?
Other than the new Man Man, that I had to listen to on repeat and repeat and repeat to try and figure what makes the cut, the order of songs, etc… probably “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” while driving with my brother. I don’t usually listen to much music outside of what I’m working on and when I’m not working on music I’d rather be doing something non music oriented. Like drinking. And saving lives.
What did you want to be when you were 10 years old?
Black Swan.
