Music fans will remember the original 2010 release of the Rise Against Classic Slip-On which was the second project between Rise Against and Vans after the huge success of the first partnership in 2007. The Classic Slip-On showcases the artwork from the band’s 2008 album Appeal to Reason. It was, as the prior release, entirely free of animal-related materials in consideration of the band’s vegan sensibilities as well as their fans. The Rise Against Classic Slip-On will retail for $65 and is the final Vans re-issue release that will close out the last day of SXSW.
The Rise Against Vans are available now in our SXSW pop up shop in Austin, TX and will also become available online at 4AM PST on Sunday 3/16.

SXSW Festival is right around the corner and we’re digging into the Vault for four exclusive re-issues. During the festival we will release limited numbers of some of our most popular band shoes from the past including Circle Jerks, Motörhead II, Bad Brains and Rise Against. Each re-issue has a total of 150 pairs. The first 50 will be sold exclusively at the pop-up shop inside the Vans Village at SXSW while an additional 100 pairs will be available on our US online shop the following day. The limited re-release of these iconic band shoes is only the second time we’ve allowed the reproduction of archived band collaborations. The first came from Vans’ Vulcanized Vinyl pop-up boutique that opened during the 2012 SXSW Music Festival. The release schedule is above, good luck!

So, this is happening.
Chicago’s definitely got it going on this September. Riot Fest & Carnival just announced the first wave of bands for their 2012 September shindig. With Rise Against, Iggy and The Stooges, A Day To Remember, and Dropkick Murphys on the lineup, we’re pretty sure that someone’s been rooting through our record collections.
This is the first time that Riot Fest is expanding to an all-day, outdoor music event and carnival, and it’s all taking place on the grounds of Chicago’s beautiful Humboldt Park.
The event runs September 14th-16th, and with prices starting at $18 a day, this sounds like a definite road trip in the making.

Bad Religion “Wrong Way Kids” Video

Influential punk rockers Bad Religion have released a moving video for the new single, “Wrong Way Kids” from the group’s critically heralded album, The Dissent of Man. The song is a tribute to the band and their fan’s shared histories as rebellious yet durable outsiders.

The footage begins in present day with lead singer Greg Graffin offering a knowing message of hope for Bad Religion’s many fans:

Even though they’re misfits, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

A subsequent shot reveals a defiantly unconventional Graffin on stage with the band back in 1984 counting down the song intro. Check out the nonstop montage of found footage showing the band’s remarkable rise from teen rebels to international punk luminaries:

Gifting at SXSW

Check out who we caught up with when we did our massive gifting at SXSW:

Ninjasonik, Tumbledown, Hey Monday, The Cab, Zlam Dunk, Riverboat Gamblers, Rise Against, The Death Set, Shawn Fisher, Hill Valley, Conditions, Title Fight, Every Avenue and of course, Oliver Peck.

Night 1 at SXSW

Last night was our first night in Austin for SXSW. Keeping in mind that I’ve never been before, I’m sticking close to everyone from Vans- espeically Kurt since we’re the music duo. Team Soto-Mink ftw!

We pick up all of our badges and caught up with our friends from Epitaph which is always a good time. Since the music section of SX didn’t start until the following day, I was surprised that we were already to some shows!

Our first was Motorhead. How’s that for an opening night? The place was packed and the show kicked ass. Of course.

Afterward, Kurt and I spent the rest of the night at Red 7. Our friends True Widow were on the stage when we got there. Mike Herrera’s newest project Tumbledown played not too long after. Holy. Crap. So good! Oliver Peck even jumped on stage to sing a little.

But after Tumbledown was when it got really crazy. Mike Herrera of MXPX, Zach Blair of Rise Against, Luke Abbey from Gorilla Biscuits, members from Riverboat Gamblers and Scott Renyolds of All banded together to play an entire Descendants cover set. Yes, you read that correctly. The crowd was gnarly! I got thrashed around a bit while taking some footage for you guys, but it’s all in the name of reporting, music and freaking punk rock. Enjoy!

Rise Against goodies

Not too long ago, we hit you with our spring releases for some new music shoes.

Today we are proud to say we got our Rise Against merch available online! We’ve twisted the band’s album art with some bold colors and thrown it on our classic Slip-On. Oh yeah- and we gave you a matching tee, too.

Don’t forget to look for our KISS releases later in March.
