As the sun disappeared from the Burgerama grounds, psych rock band The Growlers were prepared to get the crowd rowdy with the first 60 minute set of the night. The set was packed with their own hits as well as a Violent Femmes cover of “Add It Up” that drove the crowd into an even wilder state of combination moshing, crowdsurfing, dancing… and I’m pretty sure I saw a few young tears. All the commotion led some fans to take refuge at the food trucks across the lot, but that’s what a rock and roll show’s all about, right?

Currently Listening To:

If there was one band I had to choose to listen to for the rest of my life, it would have to be The Growlers. With a sound all their own, this beach-goth-psychedelic band has me mesmerized by their beachy tunes and devilishly good looks (hubba hubba). I first was introduced to these kids back in high school when I used to venture out to Orange County backyard gigs. They weren’t very well-known back then, but nonetheless had a huge following within the Orange County scene. Recently, the band was one of the many headliners of Coachella, while touring the world with bands like the Black Keys and Devandra Banhart. This band is just way too good not to introduce to you guys! Check out one of my favorite songs now and get obsessed! -brittany

Two weeks left before a two week Coachella, where this year’s amazing line-up will serenade two differing audiences, two times over. Seeing double yet? Well check out this oldie but goodie track by The Growlers, where the definition of redundancy has met a prime match. If you’re heading to the desert this year, you can catch The Growlers sweating in the blistering sun alongside a slew of incredible artists. But if not, don’t you worry, you’ll be getting twice the amount of recaps than last year … all in the comfort of your air-conditioned home.  Let the countdown to Coachella begin!
