Tumbledown at OC Sports Grill

Tumbledown are just finishing up their first mini west coast tour of the year. Last night, they hit up the OC Sports Grill in Anaheim, CA and treated the audience to a good ol’ dose of alt-country (along with a couple of MxPx tracks for good measure). Always a good time. Check out some photos below!

And if ya missed them this time around, the guys will be back next month. Catch those dates at tumbledownhq.com!

Tumbledown is back in town, kicking off 2012 with a handful of west coast dates. Get your fill of alt-country while ya can.
P.S. - The Portland show gets an extra special treat. Get your tickets early, because there’s a music video in the works for that night!

MxPx All-Stars South American tour

It’s been a year of nonstop touring for MxPx/Tumbledown’s Mike Herrera. He’s keeping it up with yet another tour starting this week. Reforming the MxPx All-Stars with a new lineup (now featuring Jose Garzon and Harley Trotland), he’ll be bringing the band down to South America for two weeks worth of shows. And if that wasn’t enough, his alt-country project, Tumbledown, will be opening.

Check the dates below.

There’s a new intern floating around the Vans office by the name of Rachel Clare. She loves good music, so I like her. And you should, too. Last week she went to check out a Social Distortion and Tumbledown show, two of Vans favorites, and got some great shots you guys can check out. Welcome to the team, Rachel and here’s to more of your shots!

Free Live Tumbledown Tracks

Daytrotter, a website that features music sessions from a massive variety of artists, recently had Tumbledown in their studio. The website has a different band session available everyday- which leaves 28 free songs a week for all of us to enjoy for free. On behalf of everyone who likes good music, thanks for bringing TB in!

Tumbledown’s session features new, live recordings of “Butcher of San Antone,” “Let’s Drink,” “State Line” and “Son of a Gun.” To download the set, you must register for the site (all of which is free). If you don’t feel like downloading the tracks, you can simply stream them.

And don’t forget to pick up TD’s latest release Empty Bottle with these awesome packages- like an MP3 download, autographed poster and a t-shirt for $15.

Tumbledown Video Premiere

Tumbledown, Mike Herrera’s country/rockabilly band, has released their latest video today. The single is “Arrested In El Paso Blues” from the upcoming album Empty Bottle (available for pre-order).The song was inspired by the band actually getting arrested in El Paso that nearly forced them to miss a show in Dallas. Check it out:

Need to hear another song from the album? Starting Friday, October 22nd, AltPress.com will unveil the title track “Empty Bottle” exclusively.

Gifting at SXSW

Check out who we caught up with when we did our massive gifting at SXSW:

Ninjasonik, Tumbledown, Hey Monday, The Cab, Zlam Dunk, Riverboat Gamblers, Rise Against, The Death Set, Shawn Fisher, Hill Valley, Conditions, Title Fight, Every Avenue and of course, Oliver Peck.

Night 1 at SXSW

Last night was our first night in Austin for SXSW. Keeping in mind that I’ve never been before, I’m sticking close to everyone from Vans- espeically Kurt since we’re the music duo. Team Soto-Mink ftw!

We pick up all of our badges and caught up with our friends from Epitaph which is always a good time. Since the music section of SX didn’t start until the following day, I was surprised that we were already to some shows!

Our first was Motorhead. How’s that for an opening night? The place was packed and the show kicked ass. Of course.

Afterward, Kurt and I spent the rest of the night at Red 7. Our friends True Widow were on the stage when we got there. Mike Herrera’s newest project Tumbledown played not too long after. Holy. Crap. So good! Oliver Peck even jumped on stage to sing a little.

But after Tumbledown was when it got really crazy. Mike Herrera of MXPX, Zach Blair of Rise Against, Luke Abbey from Gorilla Biscuits, members from Riverboat Gamblers and Scott Renyolds of All banded together to play an entire Descendants cover set. Yes, you read that correctly. The crowd was gnarly! I got thrashed around a bit while taking some footage for you guys, but it’s all in the name of reporting, music and freaking punk rock. Enjoy!

Tumbledown Tour

Mike Herrera has been busy with his latest endeavor Tumbledown- a folk Americana/alt country quartet who has been blending old school riffs and twangs harking back to Hank Williams and Johnny Cash with the punk mentality of his other, more known band MxPx. It’s practically the perfect concoction.

They made a guest appearance on Warped Tour last summer and since then I’ve been waiting to see them again. Thankfully, the band has just announced a tour across the mid and far west that shouldn’t go unattended. Really- any band who offers shotglasses as merch deserves to be checked out (sorry, but they are actually sold out of them at the moment).
